Charlotte Wells' deeply personal debut tells the story of an eleven-year-old girl and her young father on a late-'90s holiday in Türkiye—and of the adult woman who, twenty years later, replays those camcorder tapes searching for the person she never fully understood. Tender, restrained, and quietly shattering, Aftersun is a film about the gap between what we remember and what was really there.

Story: In the late 1990s, eleven-year-old Sophie and her young father Calum spend a week together at a fading resort in Türkiye. They play arcade games, swim in the pool, haggle for a carpet, and film each other on a camcorder—ordinary days that glow with the light of their bond. But beyond Sophie's view, Calum is quietly struggling under a weight she can't yet name. Twenty years later, Sophie replays those tapes. Between the bright frames, the distance between the father she knew and the man she didn't begins to surface like a tide.
