A transcendent modern fable from Alice Rohrwacher, Happy as Lazzaro weaves magical realism and biting social observation into something utterly its own. Set initially on the isolated sharecropping estate of Inviolata, the film follows an impossibly pure-hearted young man whose journey across time and place becomes an unforgettable meditation on innocence, exploitation, and what endures when the world around us changes.
