We respect our customers, and we feel your respect coming at our direction.
To our international customers,
Plain Archive is a small independent company with just two full-time employees. We do almost everything ourselves —— film selection, package design, blu-ray authoring, online store management, shipment preparation, customer service, and more. After two years of operation, we’ve finally escaped working from home, and only recently moved to a small dedicated office.
We’re not saying that it’s acceptable to act like amateurs because of our scale. We’ve always wanted people to judge us based purely on the quality of our products. A lot of effort has gone into our products, shipments, and customer service in order to avoid certain assumptions that can be made about a startup like us.
Plain Archive deals with Blu-ray collectors all over the world, and not one customer is easy to please because of their extremely high standards. But we’ve always listened. And we’ve also received some absurd requests, but we tried our best to be polite and helpful.
Our team pours everything into creating products that are hopefully worth your money. A large majority of our existing customers purchase our products because they recognize our effort. Some even order multiple copies of the same edition.
We respect our customers, and we feel your respect coming at our direction. Unfortunately, there’s a small number of individuals who doesn’t respect us back. We’ve received angry emails with profanity, and in some cases — threats.
Our Zero Dark Thirty editions have caused a record traffic with unprecedented demand. It’s unfortunate, but some will succeed and some will miss out. We understand your frustration.
If there’s anything we need to improve upon, please give us your feedback. But we do not want to suffer from reading emails that cross the line.
We’d like to end by saying thank you for the support you’ve shown us with the pre-order of Zero Dark Thirty. We have some exciting new products coming this year. Please stay tuned.
Thank you

'ZERO DARK THIRTY' Director Kathryn Bigelow approves.
Oscar-winning 'HURT LOCKER' director Kathryn Bigelow thought the artwork was really cool, and sent us her autograph.
It’s an honor to have her support on our design and illustration.
Huge thanks to Johnny and Chelsea at Annapurna Pictures. :)
Designing the PET case for Zero Dark Thirty
Our first attempt with the PET case for I SAW THE DEVIL was met with positive response.
Naturally, we discussed doing a similar slip case for ZERO DARK THIRTY.
Night Vision Goggles, or NVGs play an important role towards the end of the movie.
It made perfect sense for us to go for a green PET case that would reflect the storyline.
After a long period of testing, we’re revealing the final look of the ZERO DARK THIRTY PET case.
We take your feedbacks seriously. There’s absolutely no reason for us not to listen to your suggestions and concerns that would improve our product.
Although the green PET case was discussed amongst ourselves a long time ago, it was incredibly reassuring to find people online suggesting that we should do the green PET case
and we thank all of you for taking a huge interest in this project. It really means a lot to us.
OK, One more thing.
We want to show you something curious about our new PET slip case of ZERO "DARK" THIRTY in this video.

'De rouille et d'os(Rust and Bone)' (2012, Jacques Audiard) Pre-order will start.
PA008 <De rouille et d'os(Rust and Bone, 2012)> : Pre-order will start at 10AM, 30th January, 2015.(Korea Standard Time).
Our non-Steelbook releases <Blue is the Warmest Colour> and <The Master> both sold out within 24 hours. Many customers have asked to increase the number of copies from our usual 1000.
After careful consideration, we’ve decided to increase the number of copies of <Rust and Bone> by 50%.
**Please note that we don’t have any plans to release <Rust and Bone> as a Steelbook.
PA008 <Rust and Bone> will be released in two versions. The difference is the Slipbox and the Booklet design.
※ <Rust and Bone> will be released in two designs as shown below.
When we revealed <Rust and Bone>’s original slip cover design with a “photo-wall” concept, it was clearly unpopular.
The “photo-wall” image that we used for [Design A] appears briefly in the movie. It’s a wall of photographs from Stéphanie(Marion Cotillard)’s past and we thought it would be a good idea to show them properly in high-resolution.
But at the same time, we knew how it didn’t directly represent the feature film itself.
After a week of brainstorming with our design partner at Propaganda, we’ve decided to give [Design A] a new look.
The “photo-wall” image will be used for the booklet instead.
Thank you.
Upcoming STEELBOOK release, 'Foxcatcher' (2014, Bennett Miller)
We are thrilled to announce one of our 2015 Exclusive Steelbook releases: Foxcatcher. Most of you probably have not seen this movie yet due to its limited release.
At the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Bennett Miller won the Best Director Award and the three main leads –– Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and mark Ruffalo have all garnered attention for their performances.
This is without a doubt, our most ambitious project of 2015 right next to Oldboy.
Synopsis : Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) is struggling in obscurity and poverty in Wisconsin when he is invited by wealthy heir John du Pont (Steve Carell) to move on to his lavish estate to form a team and to train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Schultz seizes the opportunity, eager to step out of the shadow of his revered older brother Dave (Mark Ruffalo), a prominent wrestling coach and Gold Medal winner himself.
With his vast financial resources and state-of-the-art training facility at Foxcatcher Farm, du Pont appoints himself head coach of the team, eager to win the respect of his peers and the approval of his condemning mother (Vanessa Redgrave).
The dynamic between Schultz and du Pont deepens as Mark embraces his benefactor as a father figure. But du Pont's mercurial personality and psychological gameplay begins to weigh heavily on Mark's shaky self-esteem, undermining his abilities on the mat. When du Pont's favoritism shifts to brother Dave - who possesses the authority and confidence both he and Mark lack - the trio is propelled towards a tragedy no one could have foreseen.
From Academy Award® nominee Bennett Miller (CAPOTE, MONEYBALL) comes a searing true-life account of three men grappling for their versions of the American Dream.
(+) The movie was nominated for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Hair & Makeup for this year's Academy Awards. What a day!
'THE MASTER' Steelbook has sold over 3,300 copies
PA006(Also PA-S03) 'THE MASTER' Blu-ray Steelbook has sold over 3,300 copies in its first ten days! (Both domestic and international)
It's better results than we expected, although the former Keep-case edition is sold out completely.
We are proud and happy to see that this kind of art-house film is appealing to you despite not being block buster or Marvel franchise.
We really thanks for your order and support!
Best regards

Combo Pack items NOT sharing the same number.
We’ve NEVER guaranteed that you’ll be getting the same number for every item when purchasing our ISTD Triple-pack or the One-click Combo Pack. Some of our customers who ordered earlier than most could have gotten the same number for all. But some of our customers have ordered a single item and you can imagine how that would affect the Combo Pack items not sharing the same number.
With the release of <I Saw The Devil>, we’ve announced before the pre-order that the ‘first come first served lower number’ policy is for the first 100 copies only. The rest were distributed randomly.
The variations of “packs” were made available because there were many of you that asked for them. To show gratitude for your support, we’ve included the director’s hand-signed cards.
Our own policy of ‘lower number allocation on a first come first served basis’ is causing delays on shipments as well as customer email response. We’re operating with a very few people indeed.
As we gradually grow and sell more copies each month, it would become even more challenging for us to continue this policy. The ‘first come first served lower number’ policy which we implemented ourselves may face downsizing or shutdown in the near future.
Thank you for your understanding.
PS. Other Korean steelbook publishers like Nova or Kimchi does offer matching numbers for their own Triple packs. The confusion is understandable, but we don’t share the same policy.
Best regards
